My little Matthew is 5 months + 1 week old now - Time flies! I've been enjoying spending time at home with him and it breaks my heart to think about when I have to leave him under the care of someone else when I go back to work. I definitely need to cherish this quality time at home with him.
Milestones?......
He still doesn't roll over, nor have I seen him attempt to roll over since the one time I caught him on video. But I think if his arms were stronger, he would start crawling already because his legs are strong. When I put him down for tummy time, he uses his legs to push his butt in the air. But then he gets mad because he can't move anywhere since he doesn't know how to use his arms. It's so cute. Of course, I had to try to get a video of it. =)
He still tries to sit upright - and because of that, I think he likes sitting in his bumbo. He's also getting more and more interactive - when people around him are talking, he seems to listen in on the conversation and sometimes he'll make some noises as if he's contributing to the conversation. He's also starting to play with toys a little more now. When we hang a toy in front of him while he's in his car seat, he'll actually reach up to grab it now.
One of his newest things is him testing out his vocal cords. He's learning to make different sounds now - his noise of the week is grunting. When he's not happy with something, sitting in his car seat/bouncer or the way we're holding him for example, he'll make grunting noises, as if he's going to the bathroom....sometimes to the point where his face turns red. The only reason why we know he's not pooping is because it would be really, really, REALLY smelly if he was really taking care of business.
I love being able to make him laugh a lot. I love that the simplest thing can make him laugh. The other day when I was at home, I burped out loud and he totally got a kick out of that. So I grabbed the digital camera and started making fake burping noises and he just kept laughing and laughing. I love this little guy so much. =)
