My little guy started 3 year old preschool. So far he likes going to school. On his first day of school, we walked into his classroom and then he excitedly told his teacher that he has a Mario backpack. Soon after that, he turns and says “Bye dad!” and was off to go play with the play doh. It was such an anti- climatic drop off. But, I’d much rather have it that way than with cries and screams for us to not leave. When I went back later (it was only a half day) to pick him up, his teacher told me that he did great and that he was a funny and social kid. I wish I could just go observe class one of these days without him seeing me there so that I can see how he is around other people when we're not around.
The next morning as he was slowly and grumpily waking up, I asked him if he was ready to go to school again. All of a sudden he pops up and says “Yeah! I want to go to school to eat lunch!” Where does he come up with this stuff?? No wonder his teacher said he’s a funny kid.
Another day that I went to pick up Matthew from school, his teacher Ms. Murphy told me that the church bells ring every hour and every hour, Matthew lets the class know that the bells are ringing. I guess he likes to make announcements!
After his first week of school, we finally realized that they updated the dress code for preschoolers. They needed to be wearing navy pants and a white collared shirt. Here's our handsome little guy on his first day of school in uniform.
