World Traveler

Not even a year old yet and Matthew's already taken his 4th flight...which includes a recent international flight to Mexico. We went on our first family vacation to an all inclusive resort in Cancun, Mexico. Matthew did pretty well on the 3+ hour flight. He even slept for an hour of it...and the rest of time we tried to keep him distracted one way or another (I had a whole bag of tricks!...and a friend's portable DVD player).

We met up with Tommy (Pat's best man from our wedding), Karen and Audrey. It was awesome because we were kind of on the same schedule since Matthew and Audrey are only 3 months apart. It was fun watching them "play" together. At this point, playing together means being forced to sit next to each other so that mommy/daddy can take pictures of the occasion. =)
Matthew liked being in the water for the most part. We even took him to the ocean to get his feet wet by the waves. Not sure if he liked the sand though. One thing that he did like was all the attention he received from the wait staff from the various restaurants we ate at. He was always so smiley and happy whenever the waiters played with him. Not sure what it was about those Mexicans....but they knew how to make him smile every time.
Whoever said that once you have kids, it's all over is so full of baloney! Yes, vacationing with a kid is a little more challenging than when it was just the two of us, but there's so much joy in watching your kid experience something new for the first time and just enjoying a nice family vacation together. I'd definitely do it again...and again....and again!
