Parent Teacher Conferences

I went to my first parent-teacher conference today.  If all conferences during Matthew's course of school go this well, I won't have to worry about a thing. =)  The one thing that his teacher Ms. Murphy mentioned is that he needs to work on his sharing.  He tends to just go and grab something that he wants to play with from other kids.  I can see that happening.  He does it at home with Sophia and we have to remind him that he needs to share toys with Sophia.  Then he'll say to his sister "Mui, can I play with that?"  and of course there's no answer, so he immediately tells me that mui mui isn't sharing!   But other than the sharing thing, Ms. Murphy only had good things to say about Matthew.  She mentioned several times how Matthew is so much smarter/more advanced than the other kids.  What can I say...it must be the Asian genes.  =)  He's also usually pretty good about respecting authority and following directions - there are times when he'll deliberately disobey because he sees other students disobeying, and so he copies them, but in a silly manner.  She also mentioned that he has a really good memory, is very social and outgoing, and she really enjoys having him in her class because he's such a funny kid.  Kind of hard not to feel good about your parenting when you get a good report! =)

  1. There are many good virtues in Matthew. He is not only smart, respectful, friendly, and outgoing, I can see he is fairly patient for a boy of his age. He has a kind and caring heart for others. Remember he covered his father with his little blanket when Patrick was taking a nap on the floor? What about he sang for Sophia when she was crying in the car? His memory is probably from Patrick. I wonder at what age he will start playing the original pieces of Mozart. Patrick did that when he was about 8. Last, but not least, congratulations to your parenting. You and Patrick have been such good parents. I am sure Matthew will thank you and appreciate your effort as he grows older.
