I love watching Matthew master his lego building skills. He use to build stuff that didn't really look like anything and now he's building houses, airplanes, cars, fire hits (his word for gun...no idea how that came about!) and anything his imagination comes up with.
A few weeks ago, I went to our second parent-teacher conference. His teacher said he has improved a lot in terms of sharing toys with other kids. He's also interacting more with other kids when he plays. There is a girl in his class that loves to push a toy stroller around during their playtime. Ms. Murphy told me that Matthew always walks over to play with her and he pretends that he's the dad and she's the mom. Also during play time, Matthew and his friend Brennan apparently love to play with the purses?!...specifically the silver one. They both always fight over the silver one. But the purse obviously does not get in the way of his friendship with Brennan because when we ask him who his friends from his class are, Brennan is always the first kid he mentions.
Some of his latest favorites are Jake and the Neverland Pirates, Little Einstein, Octonauts and Agent Oso, whether it's on TV or the iPad. When he watches Jake and the Neverland Pirates, he usually goes and wears his pirate headband and grabs his pirate spy glass to have with him while he watches the show. He also loves playing wii mario with daddy and he's gotten really good at wii bowling!...not sure if that's a good or bad thing though!
He's definitely growing up real fast...too fast sometimes! From our conversations, I can tell his little mind is chugging away at learning about everything around him. He still has a really good memory and loves to tell stories of things that happened in the past. "Mama, do you remember when....."
Matthew knows his birthday is coming up on May 12th. When we're at the store and browsing around the toy aisles, he'll point something out and say "I want that for my birthday!". "That" changes every time. However, he has been pretty consistent with what cake he wants..."I want a Goofy cake for my birthday!" I have 2 months to figure this out!
