If I were President...

"If I were president I would ride a rocket ship for one minute."  That was Matthew's latest journal entry.  We had parent teach conferences this week and his teacher told me that out of the entire class, Matthew was the only one that opted to write his journal entry all by himself (his teacher wrote it down on a separate sheet of paper and he copied it).  The rest of the kids just had the teacher do it.  I was so proud of him for choosing to write it all by himself and actually finishing it!  Sometimes when we're at home, he loses interest pretty quickly if he can't complete a task quickly and flawlessly, but I guess he has a different mind set while in school

The one thing he needs to work on is his listening skills.  He tends to not pay attention when the teacher is giving instructions the first time around so he always ends up needing the instructions again.  The other thing he needed to work on was volume control and he knows it.  When he's talking in class and his teacher says "Matthew....", he'll say "I know, I know, too loud."  But other than those two things, he doing great and will be more than ready for kindergarten in the fall.  Kindergarten...I'm going to have a kindergartener!  Where did the time go?!
