For his birthday, we let him invite a few friends to Zap Zone. I asked him who he wanted to invite and Jake was the first person he named off. Jake is his best friend at the moment. He does everything with Jake at school and he's even had several play dates with Jake. Actually, the only play dates he's ever had were with Jake. I think he in some way mentions Jake's name at least once a day! He also invited Justyn (was also in his kindergarten class), Will (kindergarten friend as well, but couldn't make it to his party) and Noah/Noelle. A late add to his invite list was Jacob - he wanted to invite Jacob because he gave him some Pokemon cards when they were at school. Pokemon is a new hobby for him. I guess a lot of his friends are into Pokemon so he was very excited when he received Pokemon cards for his birthday and he even used his birthday money from po-po and gong-gong to buy some more. Anyways, he had a nice time hanging out with everyone and playing laser tag.
Mah-mah and yeh-yeh drove in to surprise him for his birthday and he was definitely surprised.
They also bought him a fish tank for his birthday, which is something he's been wanting for a while now. They even took him to the pet store to pick out his own fish and he named him Bobby (apparently, Bobby is a "cute" name). Bobby died after 1 day. I wasn't sure how he would handle the death of a pet but he seemed to be quite alright with it. In fact, he even said "we can just cook Bobby and eat him since he's dead anyways." Wow. Is our boy Chinese or what?! We didn't eat Bobby - we returned him to the pet store in exchange for a new fish. So now he has Max and he is alive and well. He needs to remember to feed him every day and he tries to talk to him every day and even read to him one time. Let's hope this fish will help him learn the meaning of responsibility.
