He had a class field trip the Troy Historic Museum not too long ago. It was fun watching him interact with his class mates - he's so much older now, speaking to his friends in a way that doesn't make me see him as my little boy. "Dude! WHAT are you doing?" "Oh my God, no way!" (followed with a palm up hand motion). Or the fact that he didn't really stick with me during the field trip! *sniff sniff*
When we talked about moving to our new house in Rochester Hills, he was initially very sad about moving and leaving his friends - I could hear it in his voice and it made me feel bad for making him go through this. However, now as we are getting more settled in the house, he is liking it more and seems to be doing a lot better with the idea of changing schools as long as he can invite his friends (and by that, I think it really just means Jake) over for play dates. It probably helped a lot that 2 of the boys from his Sharks basketball team this year go to the same school he will be at next year. I'm praying for a smooth transition into the new school for him. Overall, he's such a good kid - always happy, willing to help out when asked to, obedient, smart, thoughtful and a loving big brother. Not sure what we did to deserve such a wonderful little boy!
