Comparison pictures of the first and last day of
2nd grade:
Matthew had a wonderful 2nd grade year at
Oakbrook. We will miss Oakbrook a lot
because he has had wonderful teachers all three years that he’s been
there. He loved having Mrs. Rad as his 2nd
grade teacher this year – he says it’s because she gives them a lot of
goodies/treats! But he has learned a lot
this year from division and fractions to earning his cursive license. (I think
his cursive is much neater than his printing!)
He will miss his friends the most - Ben and Jake are the two
he talked about a lot. They were good
kids and I have no doubt that he will make new friends at his new school, but I
know he’s sad to be leaving his old friends.
However, I think as soon as he finds himself a new group of friends, he
might forget about the ones from Oakbrook.
He’s really growing up and wanting to take on “big kid”
responsibilities…when it’s something that is fun to him. He cooked eggs all by himself this week. He was so proud if it and asked me to take a
picture of him with his eggs. (He rarely willingly poses for pictures!)
But overall, he’s actually pretty responsible for the most
part. This week, we were meeting with
some contractors for our deck and landscaping and Matthew and Madeline were
outside while the contractors were here.
After a few minutes of talking to the contractors in the backyard, we
hear a wagon being pulled – it was Matthew pulling Madeline in the wagon,
without me asking him to do so. He even
made sure she was buckled up. Like I’ve
always said, he’s a really good big brother!
